Getting Your Pump Covered
Did you know that most insurance companies cover the cost of breast pumps under your Durable Medical Equipment (DME) policy? As a requirement of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), many plans – Medicaid included – provide breast pumps to pregnant and nursing mothers at low to no-cost. A prescription from your obstetrician is likely needed and additional information may be necessary. Because every insurance policy is different and time requirements may vary, it is recommended that you contact your insurance provider as early as your second trimester for exact details on breast pump coverage.
